TIMOTHY J. KANE, MD

Diplomat American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology

As the medical director of Comprehensive Behavioral Health, located in Staunton, Virginia, Timothy J. Kane, MD, provides comprehensive outpatient psychiatric care for adult patients. Dr. Kane is board certified in adult psychiatry. 


Dr. Kane completed his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at University of Virginia. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Virginia, School of Medicine in Charlottesville. Dr. Kane served as chief resident for the department of behavioral medicine and psychiatry at University of Virginia Hospital, University of Virginia Medical School.

 

Dr. Kane shares his experience and knowledge as the psychiatric clinical instructor for VCOM Medical School, Virginia Polytechnic and State University and Advisory Board of Directors, PA program for Murphy Deming College of Sciences.


Dr. Kane uses this first-hand knowledge of emerging treatments, and best practices to provide the most effective care to his patients. His goal is to help patients recover from mental health conditions and develop the skills and strategies they need to lead an active and fulfilling life. 


BRANDON GALLO, PA-C

Physician Assistant- Psychiatry

Brandon Gallo, PA-C, earned his Bachelor’s degree from James Madison University and attended graduate school at Mary Baldwin University, earning his degree in Physician Assistant studies. Originally a Hampton Roads native, Brandon now resides in the Shenandoah Valley. He enjoys time with his family as well as hiking & mountain-biking.


BROOKS FLOYD, PMHNP

Psychiatric- Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Bio:

Brooks Floyd, PMHNP-BC obtained his Post-Master’s Certificate at Liberty University. Brooks has been in healthcare for over a decade, starting his career as a RN at the University of Virginia’s Surgical Trauma Burn ICU. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in nursing from Eastern Mennonite University and his Master’s as a Family Nurse Practitioner from James Madison University. When he isn’t working, he enjoys spending time with his wife, daughters, and golden retriever, Gus. His other interests include physical fitness and self-defense.




DAPHNE THOMAS, PMHNP-BC

Psychiatric- Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Bio:

Daphne Thomas, PMHNP-BC, earned her Master’s of Science in Nursing, specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner studies at the University of South Carolina. Daphne is board certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Prior to that, she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Lander University, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from The University of South Carolina. In her former career as a RN, she gained years of experience in inpatient psychiatry, working with the adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her children, traveling, improving wellness, being outdoors, painting, and reading.

Kimberly Tarnai, PA-C, completed her Master of Science in Physician Assistant studies at Mary Baldwin’s Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia as an Echols Scholar majoring in Mathematics and Religious Studies. After working briefly in family medicine, Ms. Tarnai became passionate about the critical importance of mental health to overall wellness and quality of life and chose to focus her practice exclusively on helping patients improve mental health. Ms. Tarnai is the enthusiastic mother of three grown children and enjoys running, cycling or gardening in her free time.

MARIA MCDONALD, FNP

Bio:

Maria McDonald, MSN, FNP-C, is a first year PhD in nursing student at the University of Virginia. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from James Madison University in 2015 and has experience in the operating room and the pediatric intensive care unit. In 2019, she completed her master’s degree in nursing at James Madison University and was certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International and the International Society of Nurses in Genetics (ISONG). Her research interests include mental health and genetics with a focus on Major Depression and its implications in pregnancy. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities and spending quality time with her family and friends.

MORGAN DAVIS, RD, LDN

Morgan Davis, RD, completed her dietetic internship at Meredith College. Prior to that, she received her Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise at Virginia Tech, with a double focus in Dietetics and Science of Food, and a minor in Psychology. Morgan has worked in various capacities as a registered dietitian with a background in both community and clinical nutrition. She owned a wellness and nutrition counseling business for 7 years and is excited to be a part of a group practice again. When not helping others live healthier lifestyles and improve their relationships with food, Morgan loves to cook, hike, follow Hokie sports, and spend time with her family.

Bio:

Stephanie Bruton, PA-C, joined Comprehensive Behavioral Health after completing her Master of Science in Physician Assistant studies at Mary Baldwin’s Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences, where she was a member of the charter class. Before pursuing her Physician Assistant studies, she graduated with honors with her Bachelor of Science in Biology from North Carolina State University, becoming the first in her family to graduate from college. After many years of being a stay at home mom, she was ready to use both her academics as well as her life experience to help others. Outside of work, Stephanie loves traveling, gardening, camping, martial arts, and being a sport’s mom.

Amy Matney, PsyD - Comprehensive Behavioral Health - Staunton, VA

Bio:

Dr. Matney moved to the Shenandoah Valley in 2015 after completing her Doctorate of Psychology degree in California. Dr. Matney has experience working with a wide array of mental health conditions with a particular interest in trauma and PTSD. She also has experience working with individuals struggling with Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, individuals on the LGBTQ+ spectrum, and those struggling with life transitions and adjustments. Dr. Matney utilizes a combination of treatment techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Psychodynamic techniques.

Erica Bourdeau, PMHNP-BC, WHNP-BC, is a dual-licensed, board-certified nurse practitioner in Women's Health & Psychiatric Mental Health. She earned her post-master's certificate in psychiatry at Liberty University and her initial master's degree in Women's Health from Stony Brook University in 2009. She has worked in the medical field for two decades and is passionate about combining her women's health background with her psychiatric training to treat women's issues spanning the entire life cycle: premenstrual, perinatal, perimenopausal, and menopausal period. She is obtaining certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International and is also undergoing training through the Academy of Preventative & Innovative Medicine/Worldlink Medical to provide advanced bioidentical hormone replacement therapy in hopes of treating women in the realm of hormone replacement therapy to improve mental health outcomes. In her free time, Erica enjoys golfing, hiking, traveling, cooking, strength training, and spending time with her son and family.
